The National Blockchain Challenge 2019 was an exciting weekend hackathon for Torus Labs. Our team went down to conduct an introductory workshop to smart contracts for curious blockchain enthusiasts and held consultations for teams participating in the hackathon.
The exchange of ideas we had with the local developer community and the esteemed panellists were enlightening, as we saw several practical applications of blockchain being built. The hackathon reinforced one of our core beliefs of building user-centric DApps that brings value to end users.
Several impressive DApps were built at the hackathon, and we are proud to present our API Prize to an accomplished team!
Torus API Prize Winner: DApp SDK
Team DApp SDK, a Finalist at National Blockchain Challenge 2019, won the Torus API Prize for the Best DApp to Integrate Torus.
The team sought to tackle a familiar problem of having to manage many different crypto-wallets for different platforms and purposes. Not just an issue faced by users, DApp developers would have to integrate all the different wallets for their users as well. DApp SDK’s key solution to the issue was to provide a single Web3-like API that integrates with the major wallets, simplified down to two steps:
- Inject a script from CDN.
- Start using the SDK by calling web3.ethereum.enable()
Once installed, users are able to select their wallet through a pop-up window. We valued the simplicity they were trying to bring to developers and found their build intuitive for users as well.
Team DApp SDK was formed by core developers from DApp Pocket, a mobile-based blockchain wallet that allows users to manage their digital assets attained from DApps.
We are excited to witness more engineers developing user-friendly targetted at the general audience in an attempt to boost user adoption within the cryptocurrency and blockchain space. As we continue to develop Torus, we’re confident of the foundations being established by the industry to accommodate a larger diverse audience.
