Keep your account safe: A 6-step guide to managing Your MFA:
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring two or more verification factors. Common methods include:
- Something that only you know (e.g., a password).
- Something you have in your possession (e.g., a phone or hardware token).
- Something you are (e.g., fingerprint or facial recognition).
Setting Up MFA
Step 1: Log in to your account.
- Navigate to the login page and login using social credentials
Step 2: Enable MFA.
- Click on "Enable MFA."
Step 3: Choose your MFA method.
- Select from options like:
- Authenticator App (Required): Get codes from Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password or Microsoft Authenticator
- SMS/Social Authentication: Receive a code via text or use a social credential to login as a backup
- Recovery Phrase: Get a 12-word recovery phrase via email
- Password: Set a unique password
Step 4: Using the authenticator app
- Scan the QR code using the authenticator app of your choice
- Once the authentication code has been added to the authenticator app, click on “Next.”
Step 5: Enter the 6-digit authentication code from the authenticator app
Step 6: Complete the MFA set up
- Click on the “Finish set up” button
How to set up recovery for your account: A Step-by-Step Guide
After setting up your MFA, you will also see that your dashboard now includes options for recovery. The different options include:
- Social Recovery (e.g., Discord, Facebook, Line).
- Recovery phrase
- Password
It’s important to set up additional recovery options so you can easily recover access to your account.
Setting up Social Recovery
Step 1: Click on the “Setup Social Recovery” button
Step 2: Choose from the different social recovery options
Step 3: When prompted, log in to the social platform
Step 4: After all necessary permissions have been granted, your social account should be connected.
Setting up Password
Step 1: Click on the “Setup Password” button
Step 2: Create a password
- Ensure it meets all criteria
- Once done, click the “Confirm” button
Step 3: Your account is now protected with a password.
Setting up Recovery Phrase
Step 1: Click on the “Generate recovery phrase” button
Step 2: Enter your email address, then click on the “Send me my recovery phrase” button.
Step 3: You should receive an email with the recovery phrase. Do not lose this, or reveal this to anyone else. Copy the recovery phrase from your email and paste it in the text box, then click ‘Confirm’.
Step 4: Your recovery phrase is now set up.
What to do if you lose access to your authenticator app?
If you’ve lost access to your authenticator app, you can still access your account if you’ve set up other recovery options like social, recovery phrase or password.
However, if you did not set up any other recovery options, please fill up the form found here to reset your MFA. Please note that the reset may not be immediate and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Our team may reach out to you during this process for more information.
