Amsterdam Calling
Team Web3Auth was recently in Amsterdam participating first in Ethereum Foundation’s DevConnect and then later at ETHGlobal’s ETHAmsterdam. The venue for both events was the iconic Beurs Van Berlage, the former commodity exchange building.
Devconnect is a week-long in-person gathering that featured independent Ethereum events, each with a unique focus. The goal was to focus on depth-first sessions rather than size, and to bring the Ethereum community together in smaller groups to talk, learn about, or make serious progress on specific subjects. ETHAmsterdam is a hackathon gathering some of the top minds building on Ethereum with integration bounties being offered by some leading entities in the ecosystem.
When Vitalik opened the event and we couldn’t be more pleased
The opening of the event saw Ethereum founder Vitalik share insights on various topics pertaining to different aspects of the Ethereum ecosystem including the much awaited “merge”. Vitalik also jokingly predicted that Ethereum coins would touch 12,000 in value, but he did leave the currency unspecified. However, it was his insight on the importance of private keys that particularly struck a chord with us. Vitalik emphasized social recovery, an implementation where one has the ability to share a part of their key with people they trust, which is what the vision is for the Auth Network as well.
What Happens in Amsterdam…
Our booth at the event caught quite some attention for its magical theme. Our team had developed a “horcrux” inspired mobile application to demo how our private key sharing infrastructure works.
However, the “horcrux” demo was not the only attraction athe booth. We had a special attraction at the booth that left a lot of visitors rather upset. Why is that? Find out for yourself!
The Team conducted workshops…
Our Head of Engineering Chaitanya Potti and Sr Software Engineer Subham Rathi conducted workshops on “how to Plugin self-custodial social logins into your app/wallet via MPC with Web3Auth”. Both workshops were attended by developers who were quite surprised to know that it is possible to use social log-ins to onboard users while continuing to keep the solution self-custodial.
We did a UI/UX AMA
Our UX Team had offered free UX consultation for those who looked to increase their visibility and outreach. The consultancy booth was swarmed with visitors spending an average of 35 mins getting their queries patiently answered.
What if Elon Musk took over Twitter?
There were over 700 wonderful devs at the event and we caught them off guard with a few fun questions including what would they want Elon Musk to change about Twitter after purchasing it.
Web3Auth was widely integrated and we offered over $8500 in bounty
Over 700 devs submitted 165 projects in the course of the hackathon and many of these projects had integrated with Web3Auth.

All in all, DevConnect and ETHAmsterdam brought together some of the brightest minds in the Ethereum ecosystem who were acquainted with Web3Auth’s state of the art self-custodial private key management infrastructure in a fun and appealing way.
