Torus Labs is collaborating with The Giving Block on #BitcoinTuesday to join the biggest names in both philanthropy and cryptocurrency. The Torus Wallet will facilitate the easiest Ethereum transactions with Twitter accounts for the campaign throughout the month of December 2020.
Donors would be able to take advantage of the seamless user onboarding experience with Torus to make donations to causes that they really care about, and tweet about it to encourage their friends and family to do the same.
Charities involved in this campaign include The Giving Block, Code to Inspire, Africa Development Promise and US4Warriors.
How to Participate in #BitcoinTuesday with Torus
To make a donation to any participating charity, donors would just need to follow these few simple steps.
Step 1: Log into your Torus Wallet with any of your social accounts.
Step 2a: Top-Up your Torus Wallet with ETH from another wallet.

Step 2b: Top-Up your Torus Wallet with any of our integrated FIAT On-Ramp providers, with payment methods ranging from Credit/Debit Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bank Transfers. A simple KYC might be needed depending on the limits of the top-up.
Step 3: Select any of our supported Charities from our dropdown list of Twitter Handles.
Step 4: Key in the amount that you wish to donate.
Step 5: Click transfer.
Step 6: Verify that the Twitter Account you wish to donate to is the right account.
Step 7: Confirm the transaction.
Step 8: Tweet about it.
Step 9: Users who require a donation receipt for tax incentives would need to fill in this form with their contact email and transaction hash.
Torus Labs would be holding a special campaign throughout the month of December 2020 in conjunction with #BitcoinTuesday as well to match the donations of 10 selected participants to their charities. Donors interested in participating in this campaign would simply need to tweet about their Twitter donations and verify the donation with their valid transaction IDs. The winners would be selected based on their tweeted donations.
Beyond #BitcoinTuesday, we are looking to advocate for familiar, simple and secure user flows, whilst educating mainstream audiences about the benefits of making transactions on the blockchain.

The Giving Block
The cryptocurrency bull market of 2017 initiated a new pool of donors with the IRS treating cryptocurrency as property. Cryptocurrency investors have a tax incentive to donate cryptocurrencies directly to nonprofits to gain similar tax write-offs as a stock donation. The Giving Block was founded in 2018 to equip nonprofits with the tools needed to accept cryptocurrency donations to allow them to tap onto the pool of cryptocurrency donors.
Now, donors have over 100 non-profits to choose from, and The Giving Block has made it much easier for non-profits to begin accepting cryptocurrency donations.
Code to Inspire
Code to Inspire empowers young women in developing countries to drive economic and social progress by teaching them how to code, find programming jobs and launch technology ventures. Code to Inspire (CTI) was established in 2015 in Afghanistan as the first coding school for young women by Computer Science Professor and former refugee Fereshteh Forough. Supported by organizations and individuals committed to the advancement of women in technology, the nonprofit training program has taught 150 young women how to code, build mobile apps and games. Over 70% of graduates have found work, earning above-average wages in their country.
